Well if you don't already know...we have the good ole swine flu over here. {Yes, that would probably indicate a red flag on coming to visit us, unless you want to look like this guy, which I think he is kinda cute so maybe that wouldn't be too bad.}
Kins and I started with a mild cough about a week ago which I didn't really think anything of because it's the winter...and well, its Idaho. Towards the end of last week, Kinsey's fever hit about 103 and my coughing got worse and my lungs killed, but yet I had no fever. We brought Kins to the ER where they checked her for influenza (most commonly the swine flu this winter) and she was negative. Her fever subsided but her cough still stuck around a little. (Might I just add here that even with a temperature and all this coughing, Kinsey was as cheery as a little lamb. What a goofie. She really liked going to the hospital at 11:30 at night because she got to see Daddy for a few hours:) I figured I had whatever Kinsey had, so I didn't worry much about it and was going to let it run its course. My coughing stuck around and my nights have been horrific. I can't sleep because I cough all the time. At first I would lay in bed and just start crying because I felt like I was suffocating and I couldn't get enough air in- not fun. (Might I just also add, there has been a lot of crying going on around here...poor Dave, I have been a mess.)
Anyways, after a few nights of this Dave decided to bring me in to the Community Care where I got a thorough nose swab (seriously, I think they touched my brain- awful- dave laughed as tears streamed down my face. I laughed too...after, while I was hitting him) and was tested positive for influenza. This means that most likely it is swine flu because that is the only flu that seems to be going around right now, but in order to find out for sure they have to send the results in and it takes about five days. For pregnant woman because we are so high risk, they just treat us for the swine flu to be safe. However, if YOU got diagnosed with influenza, they would probably just let you ride it out because your body is strong enough. Make sense?
So, after that we figured they probably didn't get a good enough swab from Kinsey at the hospital and that she probably had it too (we figured this out after she had spent ALL weekend with her cousins for Halloween...sorry again.) Lucky for us, Community Care was willing to give Kinsey a prescription too. So that is the story...give or take. We have been on tamiflu for a day now and so far feel the same. (My first tamiflu pill I threw up, which I was a little disgruntled about because I haven't thrown up once this pregnancy until then- boo.) Dave insisted I go to the ER last night because my lungs felt tight again and he was scared I was getting pneumonia. My lungs looked great! Phew. They checked the baby and she is doing great- which I basically already knew because I feel her these days ALL the time :) But Kins and I are both doing about the same for now. Luckily, it seems that Kinsey doesn't have it near as bad as me so I am grateful. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers! Dave and Grandpa Mark gave us both beautiful blessings on Sunday. We are very blessed and thankful for the gospel and the power of the priesthood. I am sure this will string out for at least another week if not more. It's pretty annoying, but I know that we will all pull through! We Love you! Oh and if you were curious, we had not gotten our flu shots yet, we were planning on getting them last Thursday at the hospital for "family day" for employees. Day late and a dollar short I suppose :P
*On a lighter note, I found it hilarious that one of my friends mentioned to me "Isn't it funny that your cruise got canceled to Mexico so you wouldn't get the swine flu, and then you got it in Idaho".
